Chuck Piloting

Chuck Piloting

Today the Origin College and Career crew headed over to our lake house for an afternoon of boat riding, tubes, cliff diving, cards, food and tons of fun! Everyone arrived about 3:30 and we immediately headed out on the boat! Chuck took the reigns for most the day, quickly learning the proper techniques for throwing people off the Formula 2 tube.

Switching Tubes!

We didn’t stop there, also mixing in the pancake tube and doing the double tube ride! Those are always the most fun giving you the ability to jump between tubes during the middle of the ride!

Kylie

Kylie Diving In

We headed over to the cliff to do some high dives… and all I can say is wow to Kylie! She hopped up there and jumped straight in, and then got up there and dove in head first! It was awesome! The guys were a little more timid about jumping. The pressure of going so deep in the water didn’t settle to well with Paul and Chuck.

After that we grilled out and had pizza, as well as played a few rounds of cards (some played spades outside and we played Phase 10 inside). Josh, Paul, Brandon and Chuck went fishing… well at least they attempted to go fishing! Then we headed out for a dusk boat ride with bugs hitting our face like rain, we ended up with mouth fulls of them!

Taneshia Looking Cool

Taneshia Looking Cool

All in all it was an amazing day! For those of you in College and Early Career at the Torch you should think about joining us!
This week we were joined by: Eric, Kylie, Abbie, Josh, Chuck, Carrie, Brandon, Fawn, Amanda, Paul, Stephanie, Sonya, Phillip, Emily, Eric Shaw, Taneshia, and Me!

I had the opportunity today to look back over some of my Football Accomplishments so I thought I would turn that into a Blog Post. Here are some of my favorite achievements from the past three and a half years:

-Being on Scholarship with a Nationally Award Winning Collegiate Athletic Video Department (We recently were named the ACC Video Department of the year for the 2008 Season)
-Creating the Nationally Award Winning Football Recruiting Video (2007 Season)
-Creating the Football Intro Video for the Homecoming Game in 2006 (And seeing it played on a Jumbo Screen in front of 55,000 people immediately following an Air Force Flyover!)
-Creating the 2006 and 2007 Georgia Tech Intro Videos for the Gator Bowl and Humanitarian Bowl
-Being able to travel to all the away games for the 2007 and 2008 seasons and most of the games in 2006.
-Creating the Inside Furman Basketball Coaches Show
-Having the Opportunity to create multiple highlight and motivational videos for Football and Basketball
-Working with the Jumbo Screen Production Crew at Baseball, Basketball, Volleyball and Football

Those are just a few of my favorite memories from GT Football, it has been great!

I finish classes on one week! I’m ready!

Chicken and Waffel

Chicken and Waffle

Chicken and Waffles, or better described as Chicken on Waffles! Yes you heard right, chicken placed on top of a waffle smothered in strawberries, syrup and whip cream. That was the meal of choice last night at our Origin Small Group! We met up at Kylie and Abbie’s house for a night of 4-Wheeler Riding, Devotion and Waffles.

We started off the night with the food. As scared as I was to actually eat this combination of food items it turned out ok! Now, that is not to say I would eat it everyday, and in fact I don’t think the chicken is actually suppose to be on the waffle, I think Eric just told us that! Several people (my sister included) didn’t quite have the taste buds for the combination!

After the meal we headed downstairs where Chuck led a really good devotional and talk. It was great to hear what crazy things God has had some people do as well as the ways people best hear from Him.

Following the devotional we headed outside for 4-Wheeler Riding! Since I was in flip-flops I rode with Chuck… more like held on for dear life with Chuck! I literally think he was out to kill me. Eric continued wearing his rented tux shirt from yesterdays wedding to ride in! We had fun though, it was a pretty large group for the first one (About 15 of us).

My Waffel and Me

My Waffle and Me

I know it’s been a while, actually over a year (Go Walking) since I took a quote and made a desktop wallpaper, so I felt like it was time. This quote is by John Q. Adams on leadership “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” In other words, it doesn’t matter the position you have, the title you have or the authority you have, without actions that inspire others you are nothing more than a “boss”. It takes all of the above and more to be a true leader, to really inspire others to dream more, do more and become more.

For this graphic I took a lot of leadership words and quotes I found important and formed them into a man outline. I added a shadow to both the ground and to the quote bar to make it a little more realistic.

Let me know what you think! Click on it for a larger image and set it as your background. I’ll try to keep making more so you can keep your desktop fresh!

Sold
I am continually amazed at the power of the internet. I am moving out of my apartment in Downtown Atlanta and today my land lord asked me to list it on Craigslist for him. I crafted a clever and pretty good sales pitch and posted it. Within one hour he called me and said someone had already came by and looked at the apartment and rented it! He would be moving into it in a week after he returned from his home in Spain!

That is literally insane! In the matter of an hour I listed an apartment, had someone interested, they called, visited the apartment and rented it! Imagine before the internet of having to list it in the paper or put a sign out and then wait days or even weeks to get a reply.

Here is my “Press Release”– I’m thinking of going into sales

Located just minutes walking distance from the sprawling new Atlantic Station, this apartment is hard to let go! I’ve been the tenant here for two years as I completed my degree at nearby Georgia Tech and it’s finally time to move on. A wonderful location, a quiet neighborhood, all utilities included (internet, water, central heat and air, cable and more) as well as access to free laundry, parking and all that Atlanta has to offer. This is a second floor apartment of a house and has its own entrance. The apartment includes all appliances, bed and desk. The landlord is extremely nice and lives in the house next door. The bottom floor is also renters who have lived there for nearly 10 years and never hear anything from them. A great place to be!

The Highlights
-All Utilities Included (Internet, Water, Electricity, Central Heat and Air, Cable)
-Located Minutes from Atlantic Station, Georgia Tech, Marta and More
-Quite Neighborhood with plenty of On-Street Parking in front of house
-Furnished with all Kitchen Appliances, Bed, Dresser, Shelves and Desk

Up

Today I went and saw the new animated movie “Up” by Disney Pixar. It was not at all what I expected, but it was great! Not only was it a great animated film, but it had one of the best stories I’ve ever seen in an animated film. The best part is there were tons of great parts for children (crazy colors, funny talking dogs and more), but the story line was wonderful for adults as well! It actually almost had me in tears at two different points in the film. I would highly recommend it for anyone, especially families, although it does move a little slow for the young ones.

I’ll give it Five Stars!

Me Kneeboarding

Me Kneeboarding

This weekend, after graduation, it was time for the Lake! Cale, Emily, Mom, Dad and I headed over to the lake house on Friday Night. After sleeping in a little late on Saturday morning and waking up to a full breakfast, we headed out on the lake to have fun with the knee board, wake board and skis.

Emily Skiing

Emily Skiing

Emily is becoming quite a pro on the skis, easily crossing back and forth across the water with ease, and Cale started to become pretty good at the wake boarding side of things as well! I try to stick to the knee board since it is a little closer to the water and I don’t have to fall six feet. Here are a few pictures from Saturday.

Eating Hamburgers

Eating Hamburgers

On Sunday after church we had a good amount of people over for an afternoon of fun in the sun. Scott and Holly had made it back up for graduation so they were also able to join us (along with about 30 other people). It was a blast! We grilled hamburgers and stayed out on the boat for what seemed like ever.

The Loaded Boat

The Loaded Boat

A lot of people had to leave late afternoon to head back to the Camp Meeting, but several were able to stay long into the night. Eric brought us pizza after he finished singing at Camp Meeting and Scott made us Homemade Ice Cream to round off the day. It was great to get to spend the day with some of the old crew. Here are a few pictures from Sunday. Check the link at the bottom for a whole album of them!
