We (the video staff) actually headed up on Friday at noon with the team this year. Generally for the Clemson game we just come up Saturday morning with the official travel party, however this year was different. There were only sixteen people on our bus this time as well since most of the other people who ride our bus weren’t coming up till Saturday, this allowed for plenty of room to stretch out and take a nap on the two hour ride!

We stayed in Greenville South Carolina in one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed at while I’ve been on staff. Also, due to the rain we by-passed the Friday Walk Through and headed straight to the hotel (Can’t complain to much there!) Since we were going to be there so long on Friday we decided to find out where we could go (oh, and Lee needed a belt). We went to the concierge desk and asked if they had a shuttle that could take us to a mall- “Of course” he told us and pointed us in the direction of a man standing next to the door. The guy then led us to the Marriott buses, or so we thought! Right before getting to the bus he stopped at a brand new BMW! We wondered if this was a guests car that we were borrowing, but apparently they have a small fleet of BMW’s to transport guests… at no charge! He ended up carrying us to a local mall about ten minutes away were Lee, Rachel and I spent the afternoon walking around. Ok, so Rachel actually left Lee and I to do some real shopping! Lee and I checked out a few stores and then headed to the Food Court.

We then headed back to the hotel and ate dinner at the hotel resturaunt. I had chicken quasidillas for an appetizer, a jumbo shrimp platter for the entree and then cheesecake for dessert. The appatizer and dessert were amazing but the entree was…. not the best I’ve ever eaten!

Back in the room and rented Wanted on the hotel television to watch for the night. The next day we had to be downstairs at 8:40am to pack all the equipment from the meeting rooms and load the bus. Then we drove, under police escort, to the stadium.

Filming from the Endzone

Filming from the Endzone

I filmed from the End Zone and Todd (Our Director) edited on the laptop from the endzone. Usually he heads to the sideline, however at Clemson the endzone is MUCH nicer than the sideline so thats where we went! Unfortunately I forgot my camera in my bag on the bus and only had my camera phone to snap pictures, so there aren’t a lot of them!

It was the LOUDEST spot I have ever filmed from. If you look above my head in the picture you’ll see a large roof. This roof created a HUGE sound reflector that took all of the crowd noise (already huge) and bounced it back straight to us… again! My head was killing me by half time! Add in our band which sat directly underneath us and it was crazy!

The bus ride home was also near empty so I took the opportunity to catch up on some more sleep! We got back in Atlanta around 6:30pm. I then watched Virginia Tech get beat (Awesome!) on ESPN.

And today the BCS polls came out and Georgia Tech is ranked #18! Awesome!
