This weekend was yet another trip with the Georgia Tech Football Team, and while the entertainment level didn’t quite eclipse the Boston College trip last weekend, it was still pretty good. I didn’t get as many pictures on this trip, simply because we were in the middle of no where and you all saw the Plane Pictures last week (Planes Trains and Boston- Traveling with the GT Football Team), but I did make a few pretty cool panorama shots this week!

This week we left the Stadium at about 10am on Friday and headed to the Atlanta airport to catch our chartered flight. Upon boarding we had our traditional bag of food (sandwiches, candy bars, crackers etc.) and a cheese burger. It was pretty good considering I hadn’t had breakfast that morning and was starving! After about an hour flight we landed in Roanoke Virginia where we loaded up on the buses and headed to Blacksburg for the friday Walk Through. It was actually pretty fun watching the players have a good time on the field, the defense trying to kick field goals (I can see why we don’t entrust that job to them!) and the offense all trying to hit the field goal with 50 yard passes. Then of course the O-Line playing a mini game of their own complete with Touchdown Celebrations! I did manage to get one Panorama Shot on Friday. My skills are slowly getting better!

We arrived at the hotel around 3:30 on Friday in Roanoke and set up the projectors and laptops in the Meeting Rooms for the players and coaches. Then Lee, Patrick and I headed out into the city…. Ok, the “city” consisted of Zaxbys, Big Lots, Home Depot and a few other strip mall stores. Regardless we had a good time trying on clothes. Around 7:30 Cale and a few of his friends stopped by to have dinner with me and pick up the tickets I had for them. They only had about thirty minutes because they still had to drive awhile. I didn’t actually eat with them though because we had already had Zaxbys at 5:30 and then we headed down and had another dinner at the Hotel Restaurant at 10:00. Then we went back to the Hotel Room and watched the coverage of Hurricane Ike on Fox (Giraldo is by far the BEST anchor ever! He is so funny to watch being thrown around in 100mph winds!) Then of course we hit the bed around 1am.

Saturday morning we left the Hotel around 12:30pm for Virginia Tech. Upon arriving I heaved around 150lbs of equipment up around 5 million steps to the top of the End zone where I was filming from! The end was worse when I had to lug them all down the steps after a LONG game! I was dying! Anyway, VT has one of the loudest stadiums I have EVER been in! From thirty minutes before the game till the end I couldn’t even hear our Radios to talk between me and the sideline video guys!

They also had a pretty good flyover the blasted right over the tops of our Head! (Granted it still doesn’t compared to the Fly-Overs at Tech, but it was pretty good). One of the pilots was a VT Grad and the other was a GT Grad. They both had on their respective shirts, it was pretty cool to see them open their fly-suits on the field with the shirts underneath (again, ours totally beats theirs!). I managed to do a Panorama but vertical… So I don’t know if it is still considered a Panorama, of the flyover. This is one of my favorite works! I took the picture of the planes first and then took them going vertical down the stadium. Editing it was also pretty fun!

This was one of the best stadiums I have been in! The press box was absolutely amazing and really big and nice! The fans were not the greatest at this game however. Patrick (the newest video guy who was helping me up in the End

Zone) was sitting there during the first quarter with his Georgia Tech hat on. Next thing you know one of the VT Students runs by, grabs it, and bolts down the stairs. It was quite comical, and not a big deal because we have about 50 in the Video Office! Also, someone decided it would be funny to turn our GT Flag upside down on the stadium flag posts.

Unfortunately we weren’t able to pull out the win in the end, although I believe and most of the statistics agree that we out played them. The turnovers and poor referee calling didn’t help us out at all though. The final score was 20-17 them.

All in all it was a great trip again. Next week we play Mississippi State at Home then we have an Off Week! I can’t wait for it! Granted we will still have practices but it won’t be AS much work (hopefully!)
